Finding a Therapist

Where to Start on Your Therapy Journey

Finding a therapist is HARD! Let alone a therapist of color or a queer therapist! I can’t tell you how many people ask me “where do I even start the search?”. So I wanted to take the time to share with you several directories where you can find a therapist.

Therapy For Black Girls This is an amazing national directory where you can find all different types of therapists all over the country. And you can filter by insurance which makes the search that much easier!

The National Queer and Trans Therapist of Color network, not only serves as a healing justice organization but they have also curated a directory full of queer and trans therapist of color.

Inclusive Therapist aims to offer a safer simpler way to find diverse therapists.

Manhattan Alternative is a great resource if you are looking for Kink, Poly, Trans & LGBQ Affirmative therapists.

Last but not least, Psychology Today has a TON of clinicians and allows you to filter by insurance, location, and price!

Here are some fantastic organizations that offer financial assistance for therapy expenses: Loveland Foundation, NQTTN Mental Health Fund, and BIPOC Therapy Mental Health Fund.

Now with all of these directories, I also want to name that finding a therapist can still be a very difficult process. Many clinicians may be booked (myself included) but we also tend to have waitlists that you are welcomed to be added to. You can join my waitlist here.
